This position is responsible receiving, documenting, and dispatching emergency services within Pierce County. Qualified applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be 18 years of age or older, and be able to work a shift rotation that includes nights, weekends, and holidays. This position is responsible for completing general manual labor tasks such as flagging, shovel work, lifting, and mowing. Duties may also include operating light equipment such as a backhoe, front-end loader, grass mower, small bulldozer, and road graders used in road repair and maintenance. Applicants must be able to work in varying weather conditions and follow the safety rules for use of the assigned equipment. Work will be performed under the supervision of the Road Superintendent and/or Road Crew Leader. Possession of sufficient education to read and understand manuals on the operation of the equipment and possession a valid State of GA motor vehicle operator’s license of the appropriate class for the operation of the vehicles assigned to the position is required. Additionally, all applicants are required to pass a pre-employment background and drug screening.

This position is responsible for maintaining security at the jail. Qualified applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to complete post-certification within 6 months of employment. Additionally, all applicants are required to pass a pre-employment background and drug screening.

Finance Director - click here

The Finance Director will oversee financial operations to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate operations for the Pierce County Board of Commissioners. Qualified applicants must meet the following criteria: Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Preference will be given to applicants who are Certified Professional Accountants; have A minimum of 3 years of experience in a professional accounting position; have Fluency in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets; and possess a valid driver’s license. Additionally, all applicants are required to pass a pre-employment background and drug screening. Hiring range: $51,950 – $62,000.

About Pierce County

Pierce County, established in 1857 and named for President Franklin Pierce, grew out of Appling and Ware counties' lands.
The county seat, Blackshear, bears the name of General David Blackshear who fought Indians in Georgia and Florida during the War of 1812.
