The Pierce County Planning & Codes Department is responsible for a wide range of tasks related to growth and development in the City of Blackshear, City of Patterson, City of Offerman and Pierce County. The department handles public inquiries, annexation and rezoning requests, subdivision and site plan reviews, short and long range planning, composition of land use regulations and assures implementation of the community Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinance and subdivision regulations. The department serves as an advisor to the Blackshear City Council, Patterson City Council, Offerman City Council, Pierce County Board of Commissioners and Joint Planning Advisory Board.

About Pierce County

Pierce County, established in 1857 and named for President Franklin Pierce, grew out of Appling and Ware counties' lands.
The county seat, Blackshear, bears the name of General David Blackshear who fought Indians in Georgia and Florida during the War of 1812.
