“Appointed for fixed terms by the County Commission, the Board of Assessors is responsible for determining taxability; the appraisal, assessment, and the equalization of all assessments within the county, They notify taxpayers when changes are made to the value of the property; they receive and review all appeals filled; and they insure that the appeal process proceeds properly. In addition, they approve all exemptions claimed by the taxpayer.”

To meet with the Board of Assessors please schedule no later than the Friday before the meeting.
Each meeting will begin at 9:00 AM.
Any changes to this schedule will be posted within twenty four hours prior to the meeting.

Pierce County, established in 1857 and named for President Franklin Pierce, grew out of Appling and Ware counties' lands.
The county seat, Blackshear, bears the name of General David Blackshear who fought Indians in Georgia and Florida during the War of 1812.
